Rubens Barrichello
One cannot talk about experience in Formula One without mentioning the name of Rubens Barrichello. The Brazilian entered Formula One in 1993 and has had a race drive ever since. In his first four seasons he drove for Jordan before moving to Stewart Ford in 1997. He would remain with the team for three seasons until he got the call from Ferrari to take the second cockpit next to Michael Schumacher from 2000 onwards. Defining himself as the number 1b for the Italian squad, Barrichello entered the most successful phase of his Formula One career. Without ever being in a position to fight for the championship because of Schumacher's clear number one status within the team, he still made the most of it and took nine race wins in his six seasons with Ferrari. In 2002 and 2004 he was runner-up in the championship and Ferrari won the constructors championship in five of the six years Barrichello was driving for them. For 2006 he decided to step out of Schumacher's shadow and moved to Honda where he and his teammate Jenson Button would be treated equally. But the Brazilian struggled with the characteristics of his new car and it took him half the season to adapt. With 30 points he still almost matched the 38 of his last season with Ferrari and finished the year in seventh position. Barrichello remained with Honda and was reunited with his former Ferrari Technical Director Ross Brawn, who also signed him for the 2009 season with Brawn GP. Barrichello repaid the team with two victories and third place in the championship.
