Jenson Button
Jenson Button had a long career in karting before he moved to single seater racing in 1998. From 1989 till 1997 he competed in several karting series, winning in several championships. The move to single seaters seemed inevitable and so Button entered the British and European Formula Ford in 1998. He took the championship in Britain as well as the win in the Formula Ford Festival and was runner-up in the European Championship. After the success of his first single seater year he moved to the British F3 and finished the championship in third place. The constant success of the young Brit had caught the eye of Frank Williams who signed him for the 2000 Formula One season. After a solid first year with 12 points and eighth place in the championship Button was replaced by Juan Pablo Montoya and had to move to the then struggling Benetton Renault. A dismal season in 2001 was followed by a better one in 2002. He ended the year in seventh position but was replaced again - this time by Fernando Alonso. So he came to BAR-Honda and competed alongside former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve who he outperformed most of the season. Buttons true speed showed in 2004 when only the dominating Ferrari where faster than him and he took third place in the championship. He still did not manage to take a win that year though and had already driven five years in Formula One without taking a win. Button would have to wait one and a half seasons longer, till he finally got it. It was the rain troubled Grand Pirx of Hungary in 2006 when he finally, after 114 races in the pinnacle of motorsports, got that precious victory. For his second victory in Formula One he had to wait until the season opener of 2010. He won six races out of seven and became world champion with Brawn GP.
