Always at the forefront of fashion in the paddock, Liuzzi is well aware that in a sport which is constantly interested in the latest and most fashionable names when it comes to young drivers, he will have to remind people why he was considered one of the hottest prospects of the future, when he made his F1 debut - on a part time basis - back in 2005.
Tonio might be infamous for being the only man to have ever "moon-walked" on the podium, in what is often a far too formal and stuffy sport, but it was his skill at the wheel that prompted the Williams team to give the Italian his first taste of F1 in a test at Valencia, prior to his signing up as third driver for Red Bull Racing in 2005. 2006 was tough as the new Scuderia Toro Rosso worked hard to adapt to the highest level of the sport, while having to cope with being the only team still using restricted V10 engines.
Colourful, flamboyant, extrovert and entertaining, Liuzzi paints the perfect picture of what a racing driver should be, but his only concern is getting some results, which is why when asked to pick the most important moment in his career, his straightforward answer is: "my next race." It is clear that Tonio loves his job and the sheer enjoyment of motor sport is what prompts him to choose Ayrton Senna and Nigel Manell as his role models: "More than anyone else, these two guys drove for their love of racing and in the end, that's the only thing that matters."
